2012 Race Season Plans

Merry Christmas to all from the wintering triathlete!

Things have been pretty busy for Marian and I these past couple of months. With the end of the triathlon season came the beginning of an entirely different season: The birth of our daughter, Rianna!

Life has been a blur for us, and it's been all I can do to simply maintain my training base. But the coming of Rianna was perfectly timed with the off-season, so I am right where I should be. The R&R has been a welcome break to the vigors of training.

Nevertheless, things are going to be ramping up soon, and Coach Marian and I have been discussing 2012 season goals, and races that we'll be looking at. We're doing to be inputting a few single sport events as well to hone my event-specific skills - things like foot races, swim meets, and criteriums/road races. Those we will be early in the season.

Additionally, we thought we would post a tentative season plan here for all to see. A few caveats though: We're anticipating a shortened season with the possibility of military "vacations" for me this summer; so while we've scoped out races that we'd like to do all year long... these events are considered tentative.

25 January - Londons 10k Run - Gilbert, AZ

24 February - Mountain Home AFB Swim Meet

16 March - St Patty's 5k - Mountain Home AFB, ID

8 & 15 May - SWICA Criterium Bike Races

27 May - Onion Man Triathlon - Walla Walla, WA
("A" Race of first half of season)

June (Date TBD) - Mountain Home AFB Olympic Triathlon

or

16 June - Magicman Triathlon - Twin Falls, ID

14 July - Twin Falls Triathlon - Twin Falls, ID

11 August - Emmett's Most excellent Triathlon - Emmett, ID
("A" Race of second half of season - if I'm still in the US. This is the Idaho State Championship, and I will attempt to qualify for Nationals at this race.)

Oct (Date TBD) - Treasure Valley Y Fall Sprint Triathlon - Eagle, ID

It's likely that this schedule will change. But we'll see how God leads us this year, and how training goes. Look for race reports to come!
